With just three races left to go in 2014, the action in Trans Am TA3 American Muscle is hotter than a fox in a forest fire! This week the series heads to Salisbury, Connecticut for the 27th time to do battle at Lime Rock; and our friends at Total Performance Racing (TPR) are riding high following a win at Brainerd during their last excursion. Combined with three other podium finishes this year, including a win at Road Atlanta, the team now sits third in overall points standings with the current frontrunner, Ernie Francis Jr, leading the pack by 28-points. However, while the gap may be sizeable, the gang at TPR has absolutely no intentions of backing down and has its attention turned fully towards the championship.
“The team has worked incredibly hard and it really seems to be paying off for us,” said TPR driver, Todd Napieralski. “We’re going to need a strong finish to the season in order to pull it off, but we’re within striking distance—and we’re very motivated,” he continued.
Indeed a strong finish will be needed, as Francis Jr. and his Breathless Performance Camaro have proven to be a major force to contend with throughout the season. Additionally, defending champ, Chuck Cassaro, in the #76 ‘Metallica’ Mustang currently sits between the two bow-ties and is not about to get out of either team’s way. “It’s Trans Am racing at its best and we’re thrilled to be a part of it,” commented Jim Averill, head of TREMEC’s internal motorsports division.
