TREMEC Appoints Emilio Esparza as Global Purchasing Director

Emilio EsparzaPlymouth, MI (May 1, 2013) -- TREMEC announced the appointment of Emilio Esparza as Global Purchasing Director. Esparza’s new role comes after a successful 25-year career leading multi-national groups of purchasing professionals in automotive Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) and supplier organizations.

Mr. Esparza began his automotive career with General Motors in 1989 as a supplier quality engineer in Mexico City. Advancing within the company, he had several supply chain roles and assignments within Mexico and the United States. In 2004, Esparza was named Director of Supplier Quality and Development – Global Purchasing for General Motors Daewoo Auto and Technology, based in Seoul, Korea.

After General Motors, he became responsible for Dana Automotive’s regional supply chain management. Esparza managed a team of purchasing professionals across Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela that supported the company’s 15 regional manufacturing locations.

Mr. Esparza comes from Valeo, where he most recently held the position of North American Director of Purchasing, leading the company’s strategic procurement and supply chain management activities for the region.

Prior to joining Valeo, Esparza worked for Bombardier Transportation, where he was responsible for business development and manufacturing projects for the Mexican subsidiary.

Mr. Esparza is the Founder and Director of Eco-Energia, an organization dedicated to developing energy saving projects for central-Mexico industry.  He also served in an external consultant capacity during the formation of the Automotive Industry Center of Development (CEDIAM) for the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico, which supports and promotes the connection between automotive business and academic research and development.

Most recently, Esparza served on the 2012 Board of Directors of the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC), a privately funded, non-profit, corporate services organization providing procurement opportunities to corporate members and certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs).

He earned a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree (MEDEX) from the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Direccion de Empresas Business School (IPADE) in Mexico City and holds a Financial Management Certificate and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from ITESM in the State of Mexico.
